Introduction
Get your PADI scuba certification. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. Your first step in your diving education!

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.
In these classes you will learn the basics of diving and become certified to rent and dive anywhere your curiosity takes you. Complete your class, pool and five open water dives and you are certified! Start on your way to the Master Scuba Diver, the ultimate certification in recreational diving!

What You Learn
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three easy steps:

Step1: Knowledge Development:
Your first step is to start off with our home study program, in which you will complete the 5 chapters in the book. You can do this by e-learning, or Book & DVD. Come to class with your knowledge reviews filled out. In class we will go over the material and answer your questions. You can either join us for the week night program (2 nights/ 2 weeks) or the weekend program (1 night & Sat. & Sun. mornings);

Step 2: Confined Water Dives:
You will need to complete 5 pool dives on either week nights or weekends or a combination of the two.

Step 3: Open Water Dives:
Just complete 4 open water dives to become certified, with us or on vacation.

Ages 10 & up (10-14 year olds receive a PADI Jr. Open Water Diver certification)

Good health, and comfortable in the water
Able to swim 200 yards and float for 10 minutes
Have an enthusiastic attitude to have FUN!

The Fun Part
The fun part about this course is … well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver.

Get College Credit
You may be able to earn college credit for the PADI Open Water Diver course!

Scuba Gear You Use
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including an Air Delivery System, a Buoyancy System, an Exposure System, a Weight System and an Information System, as well as some diving accessories. You will need to purchase the following items: PADI Open Water Diver Student kit, a mask, snorkel, fins, boots, gloves and defog solution. We have personal equipment packages starting at $199.99 to assist you (receive a special discount if purchased at your orientation). Check with the staff at Dive N Trips about the gear you’ll use during this course. You can find everything you will need at Dive N Trips.

Any gear you purchase for your class that does not meet your needs or fits properly will be exchanged for you prior to your open water dives. Please tell your instructor during the pool dives, so that we can address any equipment issues.

Learning Materials You Need
PADI offers two options for home-study materials for the Open Water Diver course, eLearning or book and DVD. The
PADI material covers what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each concept and skill you’ll read about it, watch a video demonstration, then jump in the pool to practice with your instructor. Later, as a certified diver, you can use the course materials as a reference guide for future diving adventures and to review what you learned.
