Course Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be certified as a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer & an EFR Instructor

Course Topics

After a preassessment of your knowledge of dive theory, dive skills & role-model presentation techniques, you’ll participate in these sessions:

  • Instructor development standards, procedures and curriculum
  • How to organize and conduct the PADI Assistant Instructor course
  • The psychology of evaluation and counseling
  • Evaluating knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching presentations
  • Plus, you’ll get to audit an IDC or practice teaching many curriculum components.

As an IDC Staff Instructor, you can independently teach the PADI Assistant Instructor course, assist with IDCs and other instructor-level continuing education courses.

Diving Equipment Needed

You will need to purchase the following to complete your class:

  • Current PADI Instructor & PADI Course Director manuals
  • PADI Confined Water & Open Water Evaluation Slates
  • Professional Logbook

You will need all your own equipment. Rental equipment is NOT included in your course fees!

Course Scheduling

Orientation: Two hours of course logistics, paperwork, scheduling and equipment fitting

Classroom: Six classroom sessions of 3 to 4 hours each

Pool: One pool session of 4 hours
Your Instructor will sit down and design a schedule to assist you with completing your program.

Course Fees: $750.00, plus materials
